I Already miss Jack Ma

I am going to miss Jack Ma (Executive Chair of Alibaba). Ma "retired" from his post yesterday - at a flamboyant ceremony in Hanzhou's Olympic Stadium - attended by about 80,000 of his closest friends. (Ma's retirement was his idea - Nobody at Alibaba tells HIM what to do or when.)

Ma will not leave the building (although several Elvis-es and a not-insubstantial number of Michael Jackson-s attended his retirement shindig). Ma retains his position in the Alibaba Partnership - 12 people who, between them, have tremendous influence over Alibaba - and, if that influence starts to wane, control key technologies and licenses that Alibaba cannot do without.

I'm guessing - but I suspect we've not seem the last of Jack Ma.
